In between
Video
2022
In Between is a screendance piece by artist Wenxin Fu that explores the complexity of intimate relationships through the experimental use of ice in various shapes. The piece examines how these ice blocks melt upon contact with the dancers' bodies, symbolizing the evolving nature of closeness and connection between individuals.
In this work, different shapes of ice represent various forms of intimacy, ranging from fragile torobust, fleeting to enduring. As the dancers move and interact with the ice, the melting process becomes a metaphor for the warmth, vulnerability, and dynamic shifts within intimate relationships. This visual and sensory contrast not only conves the temperature and coolness of
such connections but also reflects the inevitable transitions and integrations within them.

COVID 19 CT images
Water colour and Cyanotype on paper
59 × 44cm
2023
This creation is derived from the case reports of patients with depression and their daily depictions, reflecting the pathological living spaces in the post-pandemic era. Titled "COVID
19 CT images", the artwork represents a social brain CT image, intricately capturing the balance between the physical and psychological realms of human existence following the pandemic. Made by water colour and Cyanotype, (some portions of the piece also employ lightboxes as a medium. ) The artwork presents two compelling aspects: the front of the paper, with colours intentionally erased, and the more complete representation on the reverse side.

Women for Sale 2022
Clay
110× 44 ×158.5 cm
This project aims to shed light on the harmful effects of consumerism and the objectification of women in our society. To create this project, I crafted female body parts from clay and applied consumerist-inspired makeup such as foundation and eye shadow. By commodifying and objectifying the female body, I aim to highlight the ways in which women are often treated as obiects devoid of emotion and agency. These body parts were then displayed in a food market, attached to butcher hooks and price tags, in order to further emphasize the obiectification of women in a commercial context

When a circle starts to dream
Multimedia / Animation / Graphic Design
My creative journey began with a dream In the dream, geometric shapes kept transforming.
The scene became increasingly surreal and colorful, which inspired me to turn my dream into a conceptual animation.I put a lot of effort into exploring and researching the color and rhythms.I depicted a conceptual psychedelic dream where each frame stands alone yet remains connected to the whole. The shapes exude symmetrical beauty, with subtle asymmetries reminding the audience of its artificial origins. The frames combine to create a dream-like effect, making each one a treasure waiting to be discovered.

Huntington Dreams
10 x 10 inch
Acrylic on wood
2024
Huntington Dreams" marks the artist's inaugural venture into exterior depictions following their relocation from London to Los Angeles. Set against the backdrop of the Huntington Library near the artist's familial abode, this painting captures the vibrant hues and luminous play of light inherent in Los Angeles. The canvas is saturated with rich, full-bodied colors, while the bright sunlight cascades upon it, illuminating the entire scene with clarity and radiance.
"Huntington Dreams" can be interpreted as a modern-day allegory of urban life, where the prosperity of the city intertwines with nature, concealing individual aesthetic pursuits. Amidst this city of infinite allure and challenge, individuals often find themselves ensnared in pursuits of material and spiritual gratification. Through this artwork, the artist endeavors to awaken viewers to introspective contemplation of their inner dreams and the natural world, guiding them towards a realm of greater truth and tranquility.

Still Walking
visual art
2022
The theme of the work centers around the conflicts in Asian societies, and utilizes the mediums of animation, photography, and moving image to portray one of the most representative family relationships in East Asia: left-behind children and grandparents. The film's visual artwork is centered on cozy family scenes filled with the warmth of affection. In the scene, the setting sun pours through the window in the kitchen, and the golden light is reflected in the family's cozy dinner scene. Grandmother and children sit around the table, laughing loudly, and the aroma of food seems to penetrate the screen. A family photo hangs on the wall, recording precious memories. The subtle changes in light and shadow and soft color tones create a warm, serene atmosphere. Through meticulous scene design and real emotional flow, the movie lets the audience feel the warmth of family and the power of affection, touching the heart profoundly.
